In 1984, Harley-Davidson released the first Street Glide® motorcycle, the 1985 MY Harley-Davidson® FLHX Street Glide®. This model had an impressive five-speed transmission and offered 50 horsepower with an air-cooled, four-stroke 1337 cc V-Twin® engine. Features that made the bike excellent for touring trips included a passenger backrest, locking saddlebags, and a rear trunk. The Street Glide® motorcycle soon became a staple of the Harley-Davidson catalog, with new models being released approximately every five years.
